2008 Simon Bize Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Fourneaux (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru)
This wine is all about the sappy strawberry, raspberry and sour cherry fruit. There's certainly a lot of minerality in this along with some earth, tea leaf, and fresh tobacco. The texture is very light, but the wine has surprising power on the mid-palate and finish. All-in all, a very nice wine, but just as with the 2008 Bize Vergelesses, I find this wine slightly thinner and less complex than past vintages. That may not be a bad thing, but it's certainly something to be aware of.
